Why I read?
Reading is the art of analyzing odd shaped symbols we call letters we were taught at an early age. We comprehend them to make words, words that create meaning on pages. We read to understand, entertain and receive information without physically coming in contact with another human being. We can douse ourselves into another universe in our head, discover new ideas and understand other concepts beyond our own experiences.
My favorite part of reading is that it can let you step into someone else’s skin. It lets you become someone else, perhaps someone similar to you or the complete opposite. Reading allows you to empathize with types of individuals you would never thought you could. It allows you to see perspective and experiences of other individuals and gain compassion and view more open mindedly towards similar individuals in your everyday life.
Reading can also be a great escape. Leaving your boring life behind to become a powerful supernatural species or an outlaw on the run you can experience action and danger beneath the tip of your nose. Reading allows you to become the character, taking you along the maiden voyage or the struggles of an apocalypse, anywhere, anyplace, anyone, anytime your heart desires.
I love the way you worded this post! I really liked when you said, "Reading is the art of analyzing odd shaped symbols we call letters."
ReplyDeleteI also liked when you said, "Reading allows you to empathize with types of individuals you would never thought you could. It allows you to see perspective and experiences of other individuals and gain compassion and view more open mindedly towards similar individuals in your everyday life." I would definetly say this is true. I've read about characters before and compared them to people I actually know in real life, and I've been better able to understand them.
I liked how you started out this post. This made the post more deep and intriguing. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this, reading is an escape. I love the way you interpreted all aspects
ReplyDeleteGood job in the second paragraph of describing how reading lets us "step into someone's skin" and grow our own experiences. Well written!
